The closest comparison to Pink Rose in other media is Emperor Palpatine, both purposefully instigated war and sabotaged chances for peaceful resolutions in order to get what they want. Though as previously mentioned, the path Pink Rose chose killed any chance of peace talks, and interactions between her and Pearl confirm that she knew it would. While "Rose Quartz" would be "shattered" for starting a civil war that got thousand of Gems shattered, this would result in (eventual) discussion within the Gem masses about the Crystal Gem Rebellion with Gems from both sides talking with one another about why they fought for their side, thus leading to an inevitable cultural change within Gem society.Īnd this wouldn't of been hard to do as Pink Rose ran both sides who's only limitation was that she couldn't get Homeworld to just leave Earth and her sisters just wanted the whole rebellion business to be over, Pink Rose would have no trouble to getting both sides under her control to agree to it and the "shattering of Rose Quartz" would help appease her sisters anger with the Crystal Gems, and the Pink Rose as Pink Diamond would just promise to be a more open-minded leader to the remaining Crystal Gems and maybe build a statue of "Rose Quartz" for them. The first way is simple, just have Pearl morph into "Rose Quartz" and sign a Peace Treaty with Pink Diamond stating that the rebellion will go back to working for Homeworld in exchange for sparing the organic life on Earth & letting the other members of the rebellion be pardoned and getting to choose their own careers in the Gem Empire.
The answer is No! There were plenty of other ways to resolve both problems without having to "shatter Pink Diamond". & the spawning of a 'figure of absolute evil' for both sides that's created an intense undying hatred between them used by Homeworld to further justify intense discrimination against anyone who doesn't live up to their ideals and by the Crystal Gems to stubbornly refuse to compromise with Homeworld, try to engage in any sort of peace talks or even just work with any of them, even if the entire Earth is at stake (The Crystal Gems only worked with, or listened to, Peridot because Steven talked them into it) The forced silence of Pearl, who couldn't even tell anybody if her friends lives depended on it, or if it would be useful to know (Pink Rose didn't even lift this restriction when she was going to have Steven, or even just make it so that she could tell Steven when she thought he was ready to know, or if it would be necessary to save his in the off chance Homeworld should return) The emotional compromising of the Diamonds on all aspects of their rule, though mainly when it came to the topics of Earth and Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond Various horrific experiments with fusion of shattered Gems been performed culminating in the Cluster Hundreds of innocent Rose Quartz's who never joined the rebellion were bubbled and are in constant threat of been shattered out of petty revenge (we know they didn't join the rebellion precisely because they weren't immediately shattered) Others have defending her by pointing to the fact that the other Diamonds were undermining her power, thus she couldn't just up and leave.Īnd while both facts are true, at the end of the day the war was Pink Rose's solution to both problems & the question of whether or not this was truly the best idea needs to be asked cause the aftermath of it was:Ī permanent division between the Gem race, even creating discrimination against Gems from Earth who never joined the rebellion

But the fact that the events of the series show that at best this course of action only delayed it and the emotional and societal impact it had for everyone involved have made a lot of people in-universe and out turn on her once they found out the truth.
